More Campus Art

Before the announcement of the “Sculpture Trail” the most notable outdoor art was the “Sticks of Fire” piece by O.V. Shaffer. The term is erroneously considered to be a translation of the Indian – sometimes Calusa or Seminole or Muskogee or Choctaw – Tampa (or its variant Tanpa), meaning ‘lightning’ or ‘sticks of fire.’ (more about the name here)

But I think it’s safe to say the most iconic piece on campus now is Robert Indiana’s “LOVE.”

Indiana crafted about 50 of these and I think this is one of them?

I like that someone has added a little door at the bottom.
